Staples Touts Tablets
Staples is marketing itself as the place to go for tablets, announcing that it will be carrying several of the iPad's rivals although not, alas, the iPad itself.
The retailer, which began putting a greater emphasis on consumer electronics products with its Super Bowl commercial this year, will be carrying the BlackBerry PlayBook, Motorola Xoom, Dell Streak and unspecified other tablets, it announced Thursday, while also pushing tablets in its customer service efforts. These include a special Tablet Center website and in-store help with the products.
“Staples is already a leader in tech products and services,” Peter Scala, Staples' senior vice president and general merchandise manager for office technology, said as part of the announcement.
