Starkey’s Livio AI Smart Hearing Aid
Starkey Hearing Technologies was at the recent Well Now! New York City event with the latest iteration of its Livio AI – a “hearing aid-plus” that it is designated as a “healthable.” The original version of the model, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) and integrated sensors to track physical activity and cognitive health of the wearer, was available out of the gate with Amazon Alexa connectivity, translation capability in 27 languages, and an ergonomic user interface with tap control. Also included was the Thrive Hearing mobile app, which monitors and provides numerical scores for body, brain and overall wellness.
Features more recently added to the Livio AI now include fall detection and alert capability, heart rate measurement (providing active and recovery heart rate data) and a built-in Thrive Virtual Assistant that is integrated with Google Assistant for accessibility to help with the device and also to provide responses to other questions. It further adds voice-to-text transcription and a self-check function to measure its performance. Livio AI is now also rechargeable, says Starkey, and able to deliver 24 hours of performance on a single charge; a mini turbo charger is also available as an option.
A choice of wireless accessories includes a TV add-on that supports digital and analog input sources and streams audio from a TV or another electronic audio source directly to the Livio AI. A remote control that is offered allows the user to easily select volume, mute the device and turn other special features on or off. An additional feature: via Advanced Multiflex Tinnitus Technology, through the Thrive app, tinnitus (i.e., ringing in the ears) sufferers can adjust the device to the most comfortable levels.
