The year was 1988. Bush No. 1 was warring with Dukakis, Guns N’ Roses was just hitting the rock scene and Phil Marsillio was looking to modernize his family-owned, high-end appliance store. That decision led to the adoption of computer-run, point-of-sale software from Storis, which, at the time, was in its infancy. Today, nearly 20 years later, Marsillio considers it one of his most profitable business decisions.
“As far as Vision R8 (the latest version of the Storis platform), it’s superior to everything I’ve seen,” said the co-owner of Fairfield, Conn.’s Marsillio’s Appliances, which has been in business for over 62 years. “Over the years, it’s evolved to know what customers are asking for and it carries it out.”
Vision R8 is an integrated, real-time system that connects all the aspects of a retail business—from POS to accounting—in a Windows-based environment with the goal of improving efficiency, lowering operating costs, enhancing customer service and increasing profitability. The software includes inventory control, merchandising, accounts receivable, finance receivables, customer service, an executive dashboard, EIS reporting and custom floor tags.
