Storis Adds International Importing Features
Retail automation vendor Storis Management Systems, Mt. Arlington, N.J., has introduced advanced features to facilitate the processing of international and domestic shipments of goods for improved supply chain management as part of additions to the latest version of Storis’ Windows-based Vision R8 product.
“There has been a tremendous shift into overseas markets. Economic changes by countries such as China and throughout Latin and Central America have widened the involvement of private sector manufacturing, translating into an expansion of a highly competitive global market,” said David Berger, director of product development for Storis. “As a result, overseas importing is the norm for how many retailers replenish their inventory. In recognizing these changes we are offering retailers features to support this real world business environment.”
Release 8.5 enhancements provide interaction with customs brokers, freight forwarders, shipping ports, and other manufacturer shipping representatives in an effort to enable international and domestic shipment of goods. To facilitate this advancement, Storis expanded existing landed-freight calculation capabilities to allow for more levels of import-related fees and freight charges, which can be established as specific dollar figures, percents, or customizable tariffs based on a country’s governed regulations.
