Strong Growth Continues for WiSA in Q1
The Wireless Speaker and Audio (WiSA) Association, founded by Summit Wireless Technologies, announced a strong first quarter from a membership growth standpoint, which follows up on another strong year for the organization.
In 2018, WiSA added 16 new member brands into the mix, which was considered a major achievement—as it should be. However, in just the first three months of 2019, WiSA said it has added another 18 new member brands. As a result, the association has seen its membership numbers balloon 38 percent since CES 2019, and more than 83 percent since this time last year.
“It’s thrilling to see WiSA and its members move the needle while at the forefront of a global movement in support of wireless multichannel audio,” Tony Ostrom, president of WiSA, said in a statement. “Our rapidly growing ecosystem is now packed with companies that represent the best in audio, electronics and manufacturing, which will enable our customers to bring millions of WiSA Ready platforms to market in 2019.”
With record growth already a thing, WiSA also announced four new additions in THX Ltd., Savant, the International Audio Group, and Fengmi. The group attributes its continued growth to the WiSA Ready Platform, which it said “clearly identifies entertainment sources” for a much simplified installation and setup process for the consumer, saving them time and money.
The goal of the association, since its founding, has always been to give consumers more choices when it comes to their in-home entertainment experience, while also opening the door to a streamlined, highly customizable setup. It’s clear that they’re well down that path with their record-setting Q1 and the addition of a number of well-established and fast moving brands to the WiSA mix.
