Study: Huge Growth Expected in Smartphone Market
The global smartphone market is growing in popularity at such a rapid level that nearly a third of mobile phones worldwide will be “smart” in five years. That’s according to a study announced this week by London-based firm ABI Research, which placed the current percentage at around 10 percent.
The firm attributed the rise to multiple factors: technical innovation that has optimized “smart” operating systems on low-performance processors; demand from companies for more data revenue; and an “iPhone Effect” which will drive manufacturers to compete in the high-end smartphone market.
The study, called “Smartphone and OS Markets,” was released by ABI’s Mobile Devices Research Service, and can be downloaded in full from www.abiresearch.com
