Study: LCD Will Have 75 Percent of Market By 2011
Already beginning to pull away from plasma, the LCD format will have captured 75 percent of the worldwide digital TV format by 2011, while plasma will drop below 15 percent. That’s according to a survey by the market research firm In-Stat, as reported by the Canadian Web site MarketNews.
In-Stat also found that HDTV shipments will double in the next four years, reaching 144 million in 2011, from a total of 68 million last year. Total revenue is expected to rise slightly, from about $71 billion last year, to $76.7 billion in 2011.
The survey was conducted in seven areas throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. For more on the survey, visit www.instat.com
