While web applications on mobile phones have become both more sophisticated and more prevalent in recent years, customres are largely ignoring the features, with revenue projections from such use falling well short of projections.
According to research released by the Yankee Group, as cited by the New York Times earlier this week, only 13 percent of North American cell phone users surf the Web on their phones more than once a month, compared with 70 percent of users who surf the Web daily on their computers.
Additional research, from Rethink Research, found that Web data only makes up just 12 percent of revenue per user as of 2007, a figure far below the industry’s expectations of 50 percent.
