Study: Tablets Cannibalizing Other CE Purchases
The huge, sudden popularity of tablet PC devices are both cannibalizing sales of other CE devices and inspiring millions of households to reconsider their PC-buying decisions. That's according to a study released this week by Parks Associates.
According Parks' Media Tablets: Analysis and Forecasts, tablets are beginning to cannibalize netbooks, notebooks, and e-readers, among other categories.
“One year after the launch of the Apple iPad, tablet adoption reached 13 percent of U.S. broadband households (approximately 10.5 million), slightly below current netbook and e-reader adoption rates,” Jennifer Kent, Parks Associates’ mobile research analyst, said in a statement.
