Summary of the CEA's Dollar Sales of Television for September 2
Dollar sales of analog TV products -- including analog direct views, PTVs and TV/VCR combos -- were slightly more than $797.07 million in September 2001, -21.2 percent from more than $1.01 billion in September 2000.
Gains in dollar sales of digital televisions -- including integrated and digital-ready DTV and HDTV sets -- were able to pick up some but not all of the slack. Dollar sales of digital TVs reached $268.23 million in September 2001, +59.9 percent from $167.75 million in September 2000.
Despite digital's increase, total television dollar sales fell 9.7 percent to about $1.07 billion for September 2001, compared to about $1.18 billion in September 2000.
