Harmatiuk says that the service is scalable for any size retailer or manufacturer. "The small, boutique retailers can do business with large manufacturers because they can electronically transact business with them," he said, noting that larger retailers can easily work with smaller manufacturers even when an automatic supply chain system is not in place.
"When it comes to fundamental transaction and document exchange between buyers and sellers, we're really about doing the heavy lifting here," Harmatiuk said, adding that FurnishNet has no plans to become an electronic marketplace.
Harmatiuk contends that FurnishNet can increase a bottom line by 10 percent in the first year, just by eliminating the problems associated with traditional supply chain management. GERS is developing ways to use FurnishNet to track ordering habits and/or best selling products.
