Despite the rise in popularity of online video, social networking sites, and other Internet innovations of the ‘00s, gaming remains the most popular online activity for U.S. adults, according to a Parks Associates survey released this week. The results are also indicative of the rise of casual gaming among adults.
According to the survey, called the Casual Gaming Market Update, 34 percent of U.S. adults play online video games “at least once weekly,” up from 19 percent a year ago. The survey also found that 29 percent “watch short video clips online” (up from 13 percent), while 19 percent use social networking sites (rising from 13 percent.)
The survey was conducted by speaking to 1,000 adults 18 and older in the second quarter of this year. For more on the survey, visit www.parksassociates.com
