Survey: High-End Entertainment Sector to Nearly Double
The market for high-end entertainment systems, as they drop in price, will almost double in size by 2012. That’s according to a new report from Parks Associates, called “High End Entertainment Systems: Analysis and Forecasts.”
The report found that revenue for high-end systems- which it defines as installed home theaters and multiroom audio systems- will reach $11 billion by 2012, up from $6 billion last year. Meanwhile, the number of new installations will grow 67 percent, Parks predicts, reaching 277,000 in 2012.
The other big change coming to the sector, Parks reported, is that while home theater is currently the province of the wealthy, the technology will likely move down the income scale in the next few years.
