According to a new survey conducted by Internet Retailer and Bizrate Insights, consumers said they place a great deal of value on free shipping, and they're not willing to wait very long to receive their orders. The results of the survey, which included input from more than 2,800 U.S. consumers, sheds light on a topic the e-tail industry already was well aware of anecdotally.
When asked to pick which shipping option is more important to them, 47 percent of consumers said they value free and fast shipping equally. However, those who picked free shipping exclusively (50 percent) far outweighed those who opted for fast shipping (3 percent). So, it looks like consumers are willing to sacrifice a little bit of waiting if the shipping is free.
However, they're not willing to wait too long.
