Worldwide sales of PCs jumped 7 percent in the first quarter, growth largely attributed to the rise of tablet PCs, Canalys reported Thursday.
Canalys said that 6.4 million tablets were sold globally during the quarter, about 74 percent of which were iPads. As a result, Apple's PC sales jumped nearly 188 percent over the same time last year.
Total PC sales were 88.6 million. HP was first in market share, followed by Acer, Dell, Apple and Lenovo.
