Taming the Chaos
Step Three. Create and use an "Interview and Design" document. Realize that most of the important knowledge you retain was learned during the interview and design process. Documents such as these collect vital contact data and project infor-mation, and they provide extensive details on all of the systems design requirements.
While there are additional things you may need to do, these three steps will get you on your way. The most important thing is that you create simple documentation and use it faithfully. If you don't use it, your staff won't either. It all starts from the top.
Chaos is the anti-business. Left to your own chaotic addiction, your business will eventually fail. Every successful business eventually outgrows its key leader. It is the leader's ability to become less important to the day-to-day operation of the company that will allow it to thrive again. Just remember to start each day by looking in the mirror and saying, "Hi, I'm (your name here), and I am a chaos addict."
