Target Debuts Kindle and Credit Card
Target on Thursday confirmed reports from earlier this month that it would become the first brick-and-mortar retailer to carry the Amazon Kindle device. The Kindle will first appear later this month only at Target's flagship store in Minneapolis and 102 locations in South Florida, with more stores to come later.
The company also said that it will soon begin issuing the Target Credit Card, a Target-only card that will be accepted at Target stores and on Target.com. The card will replace the Target Visa Credit Card.
“Our financial products are designed to deepen relationships with our retail guests and drive profitable sales for Target,” Terry Scully, president of Target Financial Services, said as part of the announcement. “Recent product testing and guest research underscores the tremendous value enjoyed by Target Credit Card guests. Target benefits from these powerful guest relationships through increased trip frequency and retail sales.”
