Target To Sell Blu-ray Players
In the first foray into the hi-def disc format war for one of America’s biggest retailers, Target announced Thursday that it will begin carrying Sony Blu-ray Disc players this fall.
The deal is nearly exclusive; HD DVD players will not be carried at the retailer, with the exception of Xbox 360 add-ons, and some Toshiba players sold on the company’s Web site. The first Sony player to arrive, in October, will be the BDP-S300. In addition, Target will begin selling a wide variety of Blu-ray movies.
Blu-ray technology had been available at Target as part of the Playstation 3 console.
