TerreStar Genus Available For Consumers
The TerreStar Genus cellular-satellite smartphone is now available for the consumer market, the company announced last week.
The product, available on TerreStar Networks Inc., runs Windows Mobile 6.5 and sports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and a touchscreen. The Genus is meant to work in rural areas, mountains and even off the coast of the U.S., where most standard smartphones may not work. It runs on AT&T's augmented mobile network.
“The GENUS smartphone is ideal for adventure-seekers, skiers, boaters, hikers and anyone who lives on the edge, but still wants to stay connected,” Jeffrey W. Epstein, president and chief executive officer of TerreStar, said as part of the announcement.
