Texas Instruments Continues to Back Rear-Projection
Despite the industry’s considerable move towards LCD panels and newer modes of display, Texas Instruments plans to continue pursuing rear-projection technology, despite deep declines in revenue from its DLP brand of technology,

The company’s D.L.P. products brand and marketing manager, Doug Darrow, told the Times that Texas Instruments plans to move forward by improving its product, by targeting home theater enthusiasts, and both making the picture brighter. Such technology was demonstrated by the company at International CES in Las Vegas last week.
Sony and Philips have announced in recent months that they’re getting out of rear-projection, while Mitsubishi, Samsung and Toshiba are still in the business.
