I just wanted to take the time today to thank you so much for helping me increase my sales. Thank you for helping me take your customers away from you. Thank you for enabling me to not only hold my own, but actually increase my profits during this major slowdown in business.
You’ve done so much to help me lately that you probably don’t even realize it. Let me count the ways. Your lame, slack and lifeless marketing efforts (if you could even call them that) and utter uselessness in building customer relationships have helped my business tremendously. Not only have your apathy and lack of imagination made it easier for me to make your clients mine, I’ve been able to do so at almost no additional cost.
Think about it. If you had not cut back your marketing, especially your direct marketing, I would have had a much tougher time stepping in and becoming noticed and remembered by your previous customers when they make a buying decision. Also, thanks so much for cutting back your inventories so your customers had fewer choices. You actually made my selection better.
