The 2000 Housewares Show - Translucent Niches
Royal Appliance's Dirt Devil brand has taken some cues from Apple and will show a line of new translucent productsupdating the look of the Broom Vac Extra with a cream and blue translucent vacuum chassis and adding rich translucent candy apple red to its cordless Dust Devil handvac line. See-through dirt containers allow users to see when the new vacuums need to be emptied. The new Broom Vac Extra will retail for $49; the Dust Devil and its step-up Dust Devil Deluxe counterpart will retail for $19 to $29.
Also at Housewares, Dirt Devil will show its Easy Steamer upright carpet cleaner ($149.99) and the new Swivel Glide Vision with Sensor cleaner ($229.99 to $249.99 SRP), which features a red LED that tells users that it's still picking up dirt. A green LED indicates the carpet is fully clean.
