The 2015 SEMA Show Did Not Disappoint
If you missed the 2015 SEMA Show last month in Las Vegas, we need only summarize it for you in three words: Powersports, Safety and Training. Those are the top three areas of interest that dominated the automotive electronics segment of the SEMA Show. With the prior year attendance at over 125,000 people, the 2015 show seemed easily that packed. Incredible cars everywhere you looked. Products in every possible category. It was an automotive enthusiast’s paradise.
Powersports Audio & Electronics
One category that has been experiencing clear growth is the Powersports segment. Some call them Side-by-Side vehicles (SSVs) or Utility Task Vehicles (UTVs), but the overall category of Powersports includes the typical SSVs, UTVs and more. Where the road ends and the trail begins, clearly consumers still want audio, lighting and other upgrades to their Powersports vehicles. Companies like MTX, Arc Audio, SSV Works, Kicker, Cerwin-Vega Mobile, Boss Audio and many others had booths or equipment in demonstration vehicles throughout the SEMA Show. Heise Lighting (a Metra company) even had booths in the North and South Halls, reflecting increased retailer interest. According to Metra’s Bill Repicky, “It’s great to see customers’ reactions to Heise lighting products in person, when they see the range and quality firsthand. We expanded the line in the past year considerably.”
