E-Reader Wars Get a New Entry
The Amazon Kindle and Sony Reader are about to get a new challenger, with the North American introduction later this fall of the iRex DR800SG. The new device, made by a spinoff of Royal Philips Electronics, has been available in Europe for some time, but will debut stateside soon, the New York Times reported.
Best Buy will carry the device, which will run on Verizon's 3G network, and sell it for $399, the Times said.
Unlike its rivals, the iRex DR800SG includes a touchscreen, access to the Barnes and Noble online bookstore, and access to the store while traveling abroad. A color version is also in the works.
