Florida "Cash For Appliances" Runs Out
The "Cash For Appliances" program, part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, has begun rolling out in various states. The Florida version of the program, like its predecessor Cash For Clunkers, has run out of money relatively early in the process.
According to the Sun-Sentinel newspaper, the Florida program launched Friday but had run out of money by late Saturday. Some officials, according to the paper, actually expected the money to run out earler than that.
The program offers a 20 percent break for those who purchase energy-efficent appliances.
