The younger women are showing marked interest in consumer electronics, Hifi.com's Novi said. "I think it's because they've grown up with technology. Some people, especially those growing up with the Internet, MP3, DVD or CDs, they don't know a time before CDs. Also, they are move involved, with MTV, concert tours, music, the movies.… It's just a part of them."
This new generation of buyers is being addressed by an industry not always prepared to fully acknowledge their interest.
