CEA Issues Sustainability Report
The Consumer Electronics Association this week released a first-of-its-kind report about the industry and its role in environmental sustainability.
The report, titled Environmental Sustainability and Innovation in the Consumer Electronics Industry, was conducted along with research firm Technology Forecasters, Inc., and outlines the progress of the industry in that regard.
According to CEA, companies reporting results state that they have reduced 25 percent of electricity usage in the past 3-4 years. Meanwhile, seven of the ten major CE companies reporting their greenhouse gas emissions in the four years ending in 2007 reported a reduction in such emissions. Meanwhile, two thirds of surveyed electronics companies reported actively recycling their products.
