CEA Praises Financial Reform Changes
The Consumer Electronics Association this week expressed happiness with the compromise recently worked out by a joint House-Senate conference on financial regulation legislation, which is expected to be approved and signed by President Obama this summer.
In the organization's SmartBrief newsletter, CEA praised the conference both for excising language- which had been in the House's version- that granted rule-making and enforcement authority for the FTC, while retaining language from the Senate bill banning credit card companies from charging "swipe fees." CEA had opposed the former provision and supported the latter.
CEA's vice president of congressional affairs, Veronica O'Connell is listed as the contact for the issue.
