The federal Cash For Appliances program launched last week in California, offering buyers incentives to purchase energy-efficient appliance products. The series of state programs was put into motion by last year's American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The program, which launched April 22 in conjunction with Earth Day, will offer $200 rebates for refrigerators, $100 for washing machines and $50 for air conditioners. About $35 million has been allocated to California's program.
