The DTV Transition Is Here
NEW YORK- The federally-mandated analog shutoff, following years of preparations and a last-minute delay of four months, finally takes place Friday. According to surveys cited by the AP, around 2 million households in the U.S. are unprepared for the transition.
Speaking to Dealerscope at the CEA Line Shows event in New York Thursday, the nation's newly installed Chief Technology Officer, Aneesh Chopra, said that "we are very concerned about those who have not heard the message." He added that the government was able to cut the number of the unaware in half during the four-month delay period, but that some remain unprepared.
"The assets are in place," Chopra said, "for us to get the information out as soon as possible" for those needing help with the transition.
