GameStop Wants Cheaper Consoles
The gaming industry needs to see a price cut for the three major consoles in order to keep sales momentum going. That's the opinion of GameStop's CEO, as stated in an interview with CNBC.
CEO Dan DeMatteo says that the price of the PlayStation 3 is too high, while Sony's recent move to cut the price of the PlayStation 2 came "a year too late." Meanwhile, DeMatteo sees demand for the Nintendo Wii slowing down unless it comes down from its current price of $250.
The gaming sector has been more recession-proof than most industries this year, but GameStop sees high prices as potentially rising as an issue.
