DTV Coupons Again Are On the Way
With the federal converter box coupon program, which ran out of money in January, once again capitalized, the coupons are once again going out in the mail, and officials expect the backlog to be eliminated by the end of the month.
The AP reported Thursday that the $650 million made available from the stimulus package is now available to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, which allowed the agency to resume sending the coupons ahead of the new analog shutoff date of June 12. Prior to the sending of the new coupons, the backlog stood at around 2.3 million households.
The coupons are being mailed first class, a spokeswoman told the AP.
