The House of Representatives Wednesday will consider two pieces of legislation likely to have large effects on the electronics industry: the delay of the DTV transition until June, and the $825 billion stimulus package.
The DTV bill, which passed the Senate unanimously last week, will likely come to a House vote Wednesday; if passed it would go straight to President Obama's desk.
The stimulus package, which in one edition appropriated $650 million for the DTV transition, $6 billion for high speed Internet access and $2 billion for schools and government agencies to buy computers and software, will also come before the House for a vote Wednesday, although it has not yet been passed by the Senate and still has significant Republican opposition.
