New hhgregg CEO Vows Continued Growth
The incoming CEO of hhgregg is expecting to continue the chain's fast growth, and sees the TV business driving growth in the chain's business.
In an interview with the Indianapolis Business Journal Dennis L. May, who will succeed the retiring Jerry Throgmartin in August, named flat-panel TVs and Blu-ray as what he sees as growth categories going forward; the chain will begin selling LED TVs this summer as well.
The chain hopes to grow in many ways, including taking advantage of low lease rates in moving into vacant stores, with the hope that it can double its amount of stores in Florida to 30. May also hopes to scoop up a great deal of business from former Circuit City customers; hhgregg ran a high-profile promotion earlier this year in which it agreed to partially honor gift cards from the now-defunct retailer.
