It's no surprise that baby boomers, ages 46-55, continue to dominate new home design and renovation. Their major influence is seen in trade-up homes. In 1997, two of every three new homes completed were sold to second-time buyers, with 70 to 75 percent of these buyers in the 45-54 age group, according to the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), Washington, D.C.
