Newest Microsoft Ad Strategy: Attack Mac Prices
The next phase in Microsoft's elaborate television advertising campaign will include a direct attack on Apple- specifically, the price of Mac computers.
According to the Associated Press the ads, which debuted this week, have a Web 2.0 component: the software giant recruited 10 people, gave them camera crews and budgets, and asked them to visit stores to shop for computers. They got to keep computers they chose, but were not told they were appearing in a Microsoft commercial.
In multiple ads, the recruits chose Windows-based PCs over Macs, citing cost as a major factor.
