Surely lower prices had a lot to do with the 15 percent increase in sales, according to CEA, but so did an upgrade in technology and its tie to other markets, like music and imaging. Even more PC-centric retailers enjoy the fruits of digital camera and digital camera phone success by way of peripherals.
Batteries are another example of profitable add-ons. CEA had predicted that this year, battery sales would increase to $5.7 million thanks to the use of portable devices, like phones and cameras.
