The solution Qurio offers retailers is designed for customers to use online, by sending e-mail and also, if need be, ordering prints to be picked up at the retail level. "It gets people back into the store," says Thompson. "People can keep pictures on the PC because it's faster and more convenient."
He says that from a dealer's standpoint, especially anyone who wants to commoditize the revenue stream, the service is a bonus. "Once they come in and buy the camera," he says, "they may only be back to buy a flash card." This service, like other kiosk experiences, brings them back for full service, thus completing the digital photography experience.
"Suppose you've got a chain of 10 photo stores," explains Thompson. "We would go in and create an affiliate version of the software. People can go in and buy a camera from your store. Every time they went online to order prints, we would account for that and you get a percentage of the sale."
