The recession has hurt every CE retailer, but to what degree depends on whom you talk to. The same is going to be true with the recovery. Each retailer will heal at a different rate, depending on how well they've adjusted and improved their businesses during the storm.
In the coming months, we'll hear a lot more about the economic indicators that are pointing to a recovery or showing a slowdown. These numbers are fine in providing an overview and in defining big trends, but they say little about what's happening in the area that's most important to independent dealers: their stores.
In this month's cover story (p. 36), we interviewed a handful of specialty dealers to find out what they've learned from the recession and how those lessons will help them recover and, eventually, prosper. We hope you'll be able apply what they've learned to usher in your own recovery.
