"Our background is heavy in the IT business, as well as some new construction/home building," says Karen Davis, Onterior's director of marketing and a former Gateway employee. "We saw the opportunity to apply the kind of services to digital integration in the home that we would have given to a small business or corporate account in the past."
To do this, Onteriors is working with companies like Ingram Mirco to get products, and it is concentrating on new construction. "It's primarily new home construction," says Davis. "But we're providing options and upgrades to consumers as part of the new home purchase process. We are actually planning to move into relationship marketing and add upgrades and add-ons to residents, as well."
David says that working in this way is a marriage of the old and new. "We have to do the B2B relationship with the builder and then setup the consumer relationships," says Davis. "We are mirroring the process that the builders use with buyers of a new home—[they] get excited about it and then go pick [their] options and the way it is to look."
