iPhone 3GS Arrives Friday
The third version of the iPhone finally arrives Friday, featuring faster speeds and other new features. The phone is available at Apple and AT&T retail locations, as well as Best Buy and Walmart stores in the U.S.
According to AppleInsider.com, leading Apple analyst Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray predicted that Apple will sell around 500,000 of the devices in the opening weekend, including the newly price-reduced iPhone 3G.
Munster's forecast falls below the 1 million units moved in the first weekend of last year's iPhone 3G; reasons for that include a lack of a difference in price point between the 3G and 3GS, as well as a less-significant upgrade than the 3G was from the original iPhone. The 3GS is also launching in fewer countries than the 3G did last year.
