USITC To Probe Sony, Other Companies
The U.S. International Trade Commission has launched an investigation into patent infringements in regards to the Blu-ray Disc format that will take into consideration Sony, as well as LG, Motorola, Nokia, Panasonic, and 25 other companies, Reuters reported.
The case is based on a complaint by Dr. Gertrude Neumark Rothschild, a retired Columbia University professor, who claims that her patents, for such things as laser diodes and short-wavelength light-emitting diodes, were infringed upon by the companies in question. Rothschild claims that the patents were used in cell phones, as well as Blu-ray Disc players and other popular technologies.
