Hulu Said to be Eying Devices, Subscriptions
The video website Hulu, a joint venture of the parent companies of NBC, ABC and Fox, is considering launching a subscription service for the first time- one that will put it on devices such as the Microsoft Xbox, Reuters reported this week.
Sources told the news service that Hulu is eying Apple's iPad as well as the Microsoft console. The time frame for a subscription launch, Reuters said, is "in a month or two."
A flash-based streaming site, Hulu has been free since its launch in 2008, and supported by advertising. The new model will likely continue to offer new episodes of TV shows free of charge, but charge a subscription to view older episodes.
