On Thursday, JVC announced that the world’s first 120Hz LCD TV image, now available in Japan, would be coming to the states in August. The 37-inch LT-37X987 uses JVC’s Clear Motion Drive, which delivers images at 120 frames per second, as opposed to the 60 frames per second of most LCD TV’s. Its 32-inch little brother, the LT-32X987, arrives in October. Both sets offer 1366 x 768p native resolution and upscaling of any video source to 768p.
The Clear Motion Drive displays two frames (an original image and an interpolated image) in the time most sets display only one in an effort to reduce blurring, increase brightness and minimize flicker. The liquid crystal response time of 6ms is also among the fastest in the market.
The 37-inch model will sell for about $2,700 and the 32-inch will go for an even $2,000.
