Thoughts on The-Day-Before-the-Day-Before CES 2016
What does this stuff mean to the retailer? Expect to see more wearables and smart home products this year that employ sensors to make the customer's digital life more intelligent. Fitbit is soooo 2015; what's the next big thing? We'll see. Are you ready to stock "smart clothing"?
Aggregated learning. This is shorthand for the phenomenon of connected digital devices learning about their users' behavior and becoming aware of all the data they generate worldwide to offer "predictive customization." What it means to you: Products you will sell this year will be able to "improve" based on the data generated by all of their users. So you can expect to see more products that forge deeper bonds with your customers.
A maturing of nascent ecosystems. Well doesn't THAT sound classy. Basically what it means is that technologies like virtual reality, 4K TVs, wearables, drones, 3D printers and smart home products are going to gain more content, applications and accessories at CES 2016 and beyond. Hopefully this will result in some high-margin sales for retailers this year.
