Thoughts on The-Day-Before-the-Day-Before CES 2016
Many industry types and members of the press started arriving this weekend for CES, which doesn't begin until Wednesday. That's because of a condition I like to call CES Creep, which presumably will find people arriving on Christmas Eve in advance of the show in a few years.
So just what the heck are we doing here so early? The programming. We got two major presentations from CTA's Chief Economist Shawn DuBravac and Senior Director of Market Research Steve Koenig that laid out the state of the industry and what to expect at CES 2016.
Koenig's presentation essentially said that worldwide CE revenues are basically flat, and subject to all kinds of geopolitical and socioeconomic variables. As China slows down and painfully converts to a consumption/service economy, Koenig is bullish on India.
