Tivic Health’s ClearUP Treats Sinus Pain
Tivic Health Systems demonstrated at the recent Well Now! event in New York City a non-invasive device the size of a nasal spray bottle that it says uses bioelectronics to treat sinus pain caused by seasonal annoyances such as hay fever, and year-round annoyances like dust, mold, pollens and pet dander – without drugs: the ClearUP Sinus Pain Relief device ($149), being launched in late summer.
ClearUP, which received 510 (k) FDA clearance earlier this year, uses microcurrent waveforms to treat these conditions. The user moves the device on facial areas peripheral to the nasal passages – the brow bone, cheek and nose – and is prompted to move it along that path by a subtle feedback vibration.
The rechargeable device, intended for adults 18 years of age and over, is controllable by a single button and offers three intensity levels for its five-minute treatment sessions, so that the user can personalize his or her treatment as needed.
