TiVo on Friday was awarded $200 million by a federal court as part of its patent litigation against Dish Network and Echostar.
According to Reuters, the U.S. District Court for Eastern Texas made the award as part of a contempt-of-court citing against Dish, for violating a previous injunction. The court found that Dish had sold DVR products during a four-month period in 2008 that infringed on TiVo patents, while advertising them as "better than TiVo."
Dish said it would appeal the ruling.
