TiVo, and Rhapsody Team Up on Music Service
In a unique deal that will deliver a library of millions of songs to every household equipped with the recorder, TiVo has teamed up with the music download service Rhapsody to make digital music available through the recording device. Also available will be numerous Internet radio stations.
The service allows users to search for music through their TV and select songs they like, while also letting them rate the music. The new service will exist as a 30-day free trial for existing TiVo customers, and then cost $12.99 per month subsequently.
Exact financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Rhapsody is a collaboration between RealNetworks and MTV.
