Tivoli Audio Expands
The company other announcement regarded its new brand of audio products under the name of Tivoli Design. Initially it exists with two branches: one with speakers, both tower and bookshelf units, and the second with speaker selectors for multi-room distribution. DeVesto said he saw a need for higher quality, entry level speakers for higher-end retailers such as a Tweeter stores or Harvey's (New York). The result is a Monitor series, which consists of 3-way tower speakers, book shelf speakers, a center channel speaker and a powered subwoofer. The company will also be offering a 5.1 channel speaker set priced at $399.95.
In the other branch of the Design line, Tivoli is offering four speaker selectors—two four-channel and two six-channel—ranging in price from $99 to $299.95 suggested retail. The selectors employ spring clips as well as gold-plated binding posts, which DeVesto said is not a standard on selectors in the market. Binding posts allow users or installers to attach higher-end audio cable. DeVesto said that installers and custom retailers reported that this was a feature lacking in many of the selectors on the market.
